Hotel Fire risk assessment is a legal requirement here as it is for pretty much any other type of business. We were contacted recently to carry out an assessment audit on the fire safety provisions of a 39 bed hotel near Eastbourne in East Sussex.
The customer was worried that previous owners had failed to keep pace with legislation, and the requirements which are in place for businesses, as there were no records of previous fire safety work, and no indication that an assessment had previously been carried out in compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order: 2005.
AFSS Ltd always carry out hotel Fire Risk Assessment in line with the guide PAS 79, taking account of Building Regulations, BS 9999, and other relevant information such as advice and notices issued by the council and Fire Service.
We then completed our assessment over several visits as occupancy of the hotel meant that we had to ensure we did not interrupt guest schedules. On completion of the hotel Fire Risk Assessment, we wrote our report – something we do not rely on computer software generated solutions for.
The report we produce is comprehensive and, in line with PAS 79, covers all factors which could influence the outbreak, or progression of a fire within a building.
It is designed to be as easy as possible to understand, and a key part of it is the summary table showing any actions which need to be taken to achieve compliance.
Hotel Fire Risk Assessment Report
The compilation of our report, while in a standard format as per PAS 79, is never copied and pasted, but is manually written in response to our audit. This allows us to use our own intelligence, skill, and experience to take account of non-standard aspects, and variations which software cannot.
We presented our report, together with our findings and an action plan, detailing the remedial work which was needed. We were asked to submit quotations for the work we were able to assist with, and we recommended vetted and approved providers for those areas we do not deal with directly, most of whom we’ve had considerable experience of working with.
We also manage outsourced works to ensure completion of all remedial and update work to an appropriate standard.
